A 26-year-old man was yesterday charged with trying to kill a man when he stabbed him with a pointed instrument.

Christopher Scerri, of Zebbug, pleaded not guilty to the attempted murder of Mario Camilleri and the possession of a weapon in Valletta on Tuesday at 9.30 a.m.

He was also charged with the illicit use of telecommunications equipment.

Scerri was granted bail on condition he does not leave his home without court permission and was bound by a Lm1,000 deposit and a personal guarantee of Lm5,000.

Police Inspector Josric Mifsud prosecuted.
