Song festival rules out

The regulations and applications for the Song for Europe Festival, which is being held on February 18-19, were released yesterday by the Malta Council for Culture and the Arts.

Composers and authors who submit songs for the festival, which is organised by the Maltasong board, can be of any nationality, as long as their country is taking part in the Eurovision Song Contest.

However, singers have to be Maltese though those who have one Maltese parent and are not necessarily residing in Malta can still take part.

The topic for the songs can range from a multitude of subjects, but those with racist, sexist or anti-religious overtones will not be accepted.

The application forms and regulations for the festival are available from the council's office in 230, Republic Street, Valletta.

The application forms of those interested have to be submitted by noon on November 19.
