Sea and Marine Cadets from the Malta GC Unit of the Sea Cadet Corps were formally inspected by their area officer during the Unit's Royal Naval inspection last Saturday.

The inspecting officer, Commander David Kent, Royal Navy, UK Eastern Area Officer, travelled to Malta for the occasion accompanied by his wife Isabelle.

The inspection started with the ceremony of Colours and Prayers which was followed by the formal inspection of the Junior Division, Quarterdeck Division, Forecastle Division and the Marine Cadet Detachment.

Guests included the British High Commissioner, Vincent Fean, the Australian High Commissioner, Richard Palk, and the US Embassy Defence and Naval Attaché, Commander Philip Munaco, among others.

Cadets also showed skills they learnt during training, demonstrating the crossing of a log and rope bridge, rigging, and cooking.

Achievement certificates were presented to 32 cadets in recognition of their skill achievements.

Mr Fean also presented the British High Commissioner's cadet award to Silvio Vella, who will give one year service to the High Commissioner, accompanying him on various official functions during his year of office.
