The inquiring magistrate should not find it difficult to determine the reason behind the fatal accident in the Regional Road tunnel at about 12.30 p.m. (very strong sunlight at that time) last September 29. A few minutes before, I used the tunnel and, as usual, I was full of fear as I was completely blinded by the strong sunlight before entering the tunnel.

I really cannot understand why the authorities are so cold in heeding reasonable advice by the public. I, for one, expressed my fears as far back as June 4. There were others who expressed the same concern.

I suppose that whoever was responsible for the poor lighting in the tunnels, was sitting in his cool air-conditioned office waiting for the clock to indicate knocking off time.

Perhaps now we shall see an improvement after this sad, useless loss of life.
