A 75-year-old Gozitan is in a critical condition after he was involved in a traffic accident in Marfa Road, Mellieha, early yesterday morning.

Guzeppi Buttigieg of Qala was driving a Skoda Favorit at 7.30 a.m. towards Cirkewwa when he collided with a Land Rover being driven in the opposite direction.

Mr Buttigieg was taken to hospital where he was found to be suffering from serious injuries.

Duty Magistrate Abigail Lofaro was informed of the accident and appointed several experts to help with the investigation, being led by the Qawra district police.
