British Airways has swept the board in the airline category of the annual Business Travel Awards, picking up seven awards.

Chief executive Rod Eddington collected the accolades which were Best Airline - for the 17th consecutive year, Best First Class, Best Economy Class, Best Longhaul Airline, Best Shorthaul Airline and Best Frequent Flyer Programme.

In addition, the Oneworld Alliance - of which BA is a founder member - scooped the Best Airline Alliance award.

The Business Traveller Awards are seen in the industry as particularly prestigious, because they are voted for by the readers of Business Traveller magazine - some of the most well-travelled people in the world.

Commercial director Martin George said: "We're very proud to receive all these awards. It is a testimony to all the hard work put in by everyone at BA, on the front line and behind the scenes.

"It is particularly pleasing to receive these accolades across all parts of our products range from such an influential set of voters."

The awards were presented at a ceremony in London.
