MEPA's weekend emergency service was recently extended to one on a daily basis operating between 6 a.m. and 11 p.m. In the remaining time, during the night, the public can leave a message on an answering machine which will be seen at 6 a.m.

Illegal development reports may be made by calling 9926-9926 (Malta) and 9924-9924 (Gozo), while Environment Protection issues may be reported on 7949-6320 (nature protection) and 9921-9991 (pollution control).

During August, with the introduction of the seven-day week emergency service, MEPA received 100 reports, 36 concerning pollution control, six related to nature protection and 58 pertaining to development control illegalities.
