The volleyball season gets underway this weekend with the main interest coming from the Super Cup competitions on Sunday, involving last season's champions and the National Cup holders.

On Saturday, three other categories - men's and ladies' U/19 and girls' U/16 - play their first matches as well.

Paola and San Anton will battle it out in the ladies' Super Cup. Last season, San Anton started better but Paola improved considerably after the Christmas break to land the league and National Cup double.

In the men's Super Cup, last year's double winners Fleur-de-Lys CFK still look stronger than Kerygma. The latter were the surprise package last season and went on to edge out Aloysians for the runners-up spot and a berth in the Super Cup final.

Kerygma will introduce more young players in their team as CFK again start favourites to land the major honours.
