Mainstream Hollywood films can now be projected on the IMAX Theatre's giant screen after the Eden Leisure Group invested in a top of the range 35mm projector for its Big Screen Theatre.
The first 35mm film to be showing in the IMAX Theatre is Wimbledon, starring Kirsten Dunst and Paul Bettany. From the same makers as Bridget Jones's Diary, Notting Hill and Love Actually, the film promises a big return at the box office. Wimbledon will be showing on Saturday as a special preview during the main show (9 p.m.) and the late show (11.30 p.m.).
The introduction of 35mm in IMAX will allow for such commercial films to be run alongside regular IMAX large format films, a spokesman said.
