Justice and Home Affairs Minister Tonio Borg said yesterday that 1,268 theft cases were reported to the police in July, of which 59 had been solved.

The majority of the thefts were from cars (269) and from bars and hotels (202).

The minister told Gavin Gulia (MLP) in reply to a parliamentary question that during August, there were 1,301 reported thefts, of which 109 were solved. There were 265 thefts from cars, 204 from beaches and 109 pick pocketing cases.
