The Malta International Airshow came to a successful end yesterday with another breathtaking display by the Italian air force's Frecce Tricolori aerobatic team.

As in previous years, the airshow drew thousands of people to park four of Malta International Airport, where they could take a close look at some of the most modern military aircraft and chat with pilots and crew. The show, now in its 12th year, is hosted by the Malta Aviation Society.

The participating countries this year included the UK, Italy, France, Holland, Germany, Belgium and Malta.

Aircraft on static and flying displays included Tornado multi-role aircraft, Harrier jump jets, and F-16 fighter and Mirage 2000 fighters as well as Alouette, Sea King and Chinook helicopters. A glider and microlight aircraft were also on display.

And those who wished to see machines which greatly depend on road holding could also admire cars owned by members of the Ferrari Club Malta, the Malta Classic Car Association and the Island Car Club.
