Four men were yesterday charged with drug possession in two separate arraignments.

In one case Ronald Busuttil, 22, of Ghaxaq, was charged with cultivating cannabis and the possession of cannabis, ecstasy and LSD (ysergic acid diethylamide) on and before March 24, 2001.

In a separate case, Thomas Spagnol, 29, Darren Abela, 19, and Ruben Ellul, 25, of Zejtun, were charged with the possession of heroin and cannabis resin on and before January 21, 2001.

Ellul was also charged with the possession of cocaine, ecstasy and LSD and Spagnol was charged with breaching the conditions of a previous release.

The four men, who were represented by Dr Robert Abela and Dr Lydia Zerafa, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Police Superintendent Neil Harrison prosecuted.
