The health sector is to benefit from almost €2 million from the European Union as part of the Transition Facility 2004 programme.

The funds will help the Health Ministry improve blood transfusion services, set up regulations about noise pollution in residential areas and train health inspectors in investigative procedures and the use of equipment measuring noise pollution.

Almost €600,000 of the funds will be used for the blood transfusion project, €1.3 million for the public health laboratories and €32,000 to address noise pollution.

The health division had presented a successful proposal on Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point Audit Training for health inspectors.
