Ivan Cauchi, 22, of Xewkija, who stands charged with the murder of his aunt, was yesterday granted bail on condition he does not leave his house except for court or hospital visits.

Magistrate Paul Coppini also ordered the accused to pay a deposit of Lm5,000 and a personal guarantee of Lm50,000 as other conditions for the granting of bail. The court concluded there was enough prima facie evidence to place the accused under indictment.

Police Superintendent Pierre Calleja and Inspectors Chris Pullicino and Antonello Grech prosecuted.

Dr Emanuel Mallia and Dr Anton Refalo appeared for the defendant.
