I refer to the letter by Kenneth Cassar. Mr Cassar could not understand why I was surprised that Annalise Falzon wrote about cruelty to animals but not a word about cruelty to children.

I expect that cruelty, whether to children or to animals, is to be condemned but while many letters appear about cruelty to animals as far as I know no one wrote about the maltreatment suffered by that Mosta girl. What Mr Cassar made me aware of is that there are far more people who raise their voice on behalf of animals than on behalf of children. It seems to Mr Cassar that it is alright to write about cruelty to animals but that protesting about other forms of cruelty would take a whole newspaper!

I would like to assure Mr Casssar that I love animals too and I help a local animal lover by giving him food leftovers for a dog sanctuary but my first priority as a mother and grandmother will always be the children.

I do not intend answering any more letters and I hope that Mr Cassar understands my feelings
