Mario Friggieri, of Qormi, was among the thousands of Formula 1 enthusiasts to experience the thrill at the Monza circuit of the Italian Grand Prix, one of the toughest tracks for an F1 engine, last weekend.

Mr Friggieri, who is the second winner of the F1 competition, was awarded two tickets to spend four days in Lugano, while watching the Italian GP.

Organised by Flamingo Ltd, Britannia Tours and Grand Prix Inc., the competition, which spanned ten months, was based on sales of the Flamingo Tool Centre and was inaugurated when the Beta-sponsored Jordan F1 car was in Malta, last year.

Another lucky winner in an earlier draw won tickets for the Barcelona F1 Grand Prix, where the Ferrari placed first and second with Schumacher winning the race, followed by Barrichello.

Due to the positive response achieved from the lottery, a similar competition will be launched in the near future, giving people the opportunity to get closer to the wonderful world of F1.
