Labour councillor Joe Cordina of Xaghra, added his views to those of Nationalist MP Frederick Azzopardi, reported last week. Mr Cordina said very little has been done to solve the traffic problem in Victoria during the the past 15 years.

Speaking to The Sunday Times, he said: "Despite wanting to solve the problem, the Government is still not forking out the necessary investment.

"This also applies to traffic management in and around Victoria. Again, substantial investment is required to construct a circular road around Victoria in order to alleviate the traffic from the centre.

"It would have made more sense to spend the taxpayer's money on a car park in Victoria than in Mgarr. To add insult to injury, this unnecessary project has been left half finished.

"After last year's propaganda, one must also ask how many millions Gozo has received from the EU for road construction, and how many of these millions are going to be allocated to solve the traffic and parking problems in Victoria," Mr Cordina concluded.
