New ambassadors of Belgium, Palestine

President Eddie Fenech Adami was yesterday presented with the letters of credence by Thomas Baekelandt, Ambassador of Belgium, and Jubran D. Taweel, Ambassador of Palestine.

The ceremony took place in the Ambassador's Room at The Palace, Valletta. The President and Mrs Fenech Adami later hosted the newly accredited ambassadors to an official luncheon at San Anton.

Mr Baekelandt has been serving as minister counsellor of the Belgian embassy in Rome since 2000.

Mr Taweel served as a commercial counsellor at the PLO mission in Washington, also since 2000.

The two new ambassadors yesterday paid a courtesy visit on Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi at his office in Valletta.
