The first edition of Child, a quarterly magazine dedicated to parents, will be distributed free with The Times tomorrow.

Child, a first for Malta, offers helpful tips and suggestions on a whole range of child-rearing issues, with the topics covered in the first edition varying from nutrition to discipline.

"Celebrity parent" Peppi Azzopardi writes a candid article about his experience of fatherhood and three brilliant students talk about how they approach their studies.

The Children's Commissioner is asked about her role and her thoughts on parenting and a mother and son who disagree about playing violent video games argue their respective cases.

Other articles in the inaugural issue deal with the best way to discipline a child; protecting children on the internet; designing bedrooms for growing children; keeping babies warm in winter and spending quality time with children.

A special back-to-school section provides expert advice on tackling homework hassles and making up a healthy lunch box for those long school days.

This winter's fashion for children is covered in a beautiful, five-page picture section.

Executive editor Mark Wood said Child represents a genuine effort to be useful to parents in their efforts to do what's best for their children. To this end, parents are being asked to write in with their feedback and to suggest topics that could be tackled in future editions.

Child is produced by Media Maker Ltd and published by Allied Newspapers Ltd.
