Chief Justice in Jersey

The Chief Justice, Vincent De Gaetano, is attending a meeting of Chief Justices of Small Commonwealth Jurisdictions in Europe being held in the Channel Island of Jersey.

The meeting will discuss, among other things, the efficient management of civil litigation, the use of information technology in the development of law and legal systems in small jurisdictions, methods of judicial appointment and collaboration within the Commonwealth to protect the independence of the judiciary.

It was convened on the initiative of the Bailiff (Chief Justice) of Jersey Sir Philip Bailhache.

During the Chief Justice's absence from Malta, Mr Justice Joseph D. Camilleri will be Acting Chief Justice.
