The Australian High Commission yesterday clarified that under a proposed new law, children under 18 would be able to apply for Australian citizenship if they were born after their parent or parents had lost Australian citizenship.

The Times yesterday inadvertently reported that the children would be able to apply for Australian citizenship if they were born after their parents renounced their Australian citizenship.

Changes to the Citizenship Act also include removing the age limit for registering as an Australian citizen by descent for persons born to an Australian parent overseas.
