A St Julians man was yesterday charged with regularly assaulting and seriously injuring his wife.

The 41-year-old man pleaded not guilty to the charges and was granted bail on the condition he does not approach his wife.

He was bound by a Lm250 deposit and a personal guarantee of Lm750.

Police Inspector Mario Tonna prosecuted.

Dr Malcolm Mifsud appeared for Zammit.

The man's name is not being published to protect his wife's identity.
