The chairman of the Malta Agriculture Lobby has been charged with defrauding the government of some Lm20,000 and misappropriation.

Louie Naudi, 48, of Naxxar is pleading not guilty to the charges brought against him.

Magistrate Lawrence Quintano yesterday put off the case to October 6 after hearing that the prosecution's main witness was in hospital.

Police Inspector Bernard Zarb is prosecuting.
