Raymond Schembri, a law court employee from Birzebbuga, is the lucky winner of The Times word game competition which ended on August 29.

His prize is a visit to Paris and Euro-Disney between September 24-26, courtesy of Mondial Tours.

He also won a Lm50 voucher to spend at Malta International Airport and a one-year membership with the Scrabble Club.

The visit to Paris and Euro-Disney came as a welcome surprise to his wife, because he had kept his participation in the word game a secret from her in order to surprise her, particularly with this trip to Paris, should his name actually be drawn.

Mr Schembri said he was trying to book a ticket for his wife so that she would accompany him.

Mr Schembri said he usually works on the word game in cooperation with a colleague at work, but for the last solution he had to work on his own as his colleague was away.

Mr Schembri travels regularly, mostly to visit the family in the UK, so the trip to Paris will certainly be a diversion from the usual holiday.

The tour includes two nights' accommodation, free entrance to Disneyland Paris Theme Park and the services of a Mondial representative.

Excursions and sights include l-Arc de Triomphe, Place de La Concorde, the world famous Champs Elysees, the Opera, Rue Lafayette, the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre, Notre Dame Cathedral and a sightseeing ferry tour on the River Seine, a visit to the Moulin Rouge with a cabaret show featuring over 80 dancers, singers and other artists as well as the Can-Can show, which was first danced at the Moulin Rouge 100 years ago.

At Disneyland, one is carried through time, space and imagination to five different lands.

A fabulous day spent in this magical theme park, ends with the fantastic closing parade in the evening.

The word game, which appears every Saturday, requires readers to find a nine-letter word from a mix of nine letters supplied once a week and then send the six nine-letter words to take part in the competition.

The six words Mr Schembri had to unravel were solemnity, transfuse, hairspray, limestone or milestone, drumstick and plenitude.

The current word game series runs until October 9 and will entitle the winner to a trip to Germany and Austria courtesy of Mondial Travel, in addition to a Lm50 voucher to spend at MIA and a one year membership of the Scrabble Club.
