The Labour opposition had been proved right when it warned about the disadvantages of imposing a visa for Libyan visitors to Malta, Labour's spokesman on home affairs, Gavin Gulia, said.

The opposition had warned that the imposition would not only mean problems for Libyan citizens wanting to come to Malta but also a hindrance to Maltese who needed to go to Libya to work, Dr Gulia said.

He said serious problems existed in the processing of visas in Libya and Maltese workers were facing excessive bureaucracy, which was causing complications.
