A Marsa man was yesterday given a three-month jail term suspended for three years and fined Lm250 after he admitted attempting to seriously injure a man when he fired a gun in his vicinity.
Magistrate Consuelo Scerri Herrera heard however that the accused, Alfred Farrugia, never really endangered Joseph Bartolo since he had aimed the firearm at the ground.
Farrugia, 39, also admitted firing the gun within 100 metres from an inhabited area and keeping and carrying it without a licence on August 5.
Inspector Roland Cassar prosecuted while Dr Joseph Giglio and Dr Roberto Montalto appeared for Farrugia.
