The national team's preparations for the upcoming commitments in the men's European Championship qualifying round got off to a good start last weekend in Sicily when Malta beat Serie B1 team Cefalu 75-73.

The top scorers for Malta were Michael Naudi and Silvio Cassar as the team started rather quietly but gained confidence as the match progressed.

Malta play another match in Sicily before continuing their fine-tuning ahead of Saturday's opening qualifier against Ireland.
