A 27-year-old man from Bugibba is expected to be charged with trafficking in heroin within the next few days.

The man was arrested in Mosta yesterday afternoon after police were informed he was trafficking drugs in the area. When approached by the police he resisted the arrest, damaging a police car in the process, the police said. During a search police found several drug-filled sachets on the man and others in his car, ready to be sold.

Magistrate Antonio Mizzi carried out an inquiry into the case and appointed several experts to assist him.

Inspectors Norbert Ciappara and Denis Theuma are investigating.
