Coppola set to sign for French club Tours

Melita and Malta international midfielder Maria Coppola (picture) will extend her career outside our shores this season when signing for French Division One club Tours these coming days.

Coppola, 29, already played in overseas competitions when turning out for the Oklahoma University team a few years back in the United States.

Last week, she was contacted by Jean Frobert, president of the Tours Football Club, who informed Coppola they were interested in signing her for the coming season which starts next week.

The French women's league is considered as one of the most organised in Europe. There are 72 teams registered at the France Football Federation and the league is spread over three divisions.
