Peugeot is anticipating potential customer needs with the 1007 (ten oh seven), it has just unveiled ahead of the Paris Motor Fair later this month and its international launch early next year.
Following the high levels of interest generated from the public showing of the Sesame concept car at the Paris Motor Show in 2002, Peugeot decided to build it. Based on the existing classic range, and with innovative features including electric sliding doors, it was decided that the car should receive the new four-digit identification with the double central zero, reserved for new vehicle concepts with no historical connection to a previous model or type.
With a length of 3,730 mm, the 1007 incorporates a degree of user-friendliness that offers a new insight into how we perceive and experience the motor car. With the 1007, Peugeot remains focused on the goal enshrined in its marque signature, namely: To ensure that motoring is always enjoyable and combining this enjoyment with user-friendliness!
Compact, spacious, bright, modular, practical for urban use, a genuine Peugeot on the open road, versatile in its interior trim, this new type of car sets the scene for the automobile of tomorrow. "With the 1007, Peugeot will continue to be the marque others follow," Frédéric Saint-Geours, CEO of Peugeot said.
Assembled at the Peugeot Production Centre in Poissy, over 130,000 units of the 1007 will be produced in a full year. The total investment in this project amounts to €560 million. It will be launched on the French market during the first quarter of 2005, then throughout Europe during the second quarter of the year.
