The second Vittorja Song Festival was recently held at Kola Windmill, one of only two intact windmills remaining in Xaghra.

The opening number was the song Xaghra, performed by three people from the locality who had participated in previous festivals as children. The event proper featured 35 children and youngsters who presented songs dedicated to Our Lady.

Category A, the most junior of the four categories, was won by Francesca Sciberras while Sylvana Xerri placed first in Category B. Ruth Portelli won Category C and Audrey Marie Bartolo, who also placed first last year, won Category D.

The evening was compered by Doris Grech and Joseph Spiteri. Ylenia Caruana sang the song with which she will be entering the Junior Eurovision Festival, while young dancers Christabel Bajada and Ruth Attard presented an original and lighthearted dance. The Breakdance group of Xaghra also brought another, different aspect to the event while Fabrizio Faniello had everyone clapping and singing along with him.

The Xaghra Council established an Organising Committee to administer the event, chaired by deputy mayor Carmelino Refalo. The council believes that such activities encourage, and provide a showcase for local talent while giving residents an opportunity to get together.
