Israeli missiles hit Palestinian workshop in Gaza
Two Palestinians shot dead
Israeli helicopters fired missiles at a metal foundry in Gaza yesterday, one day after Israel raided two Gaza camps in response to Palestinian suicide bombings in Israel this week.
There were no reports of casualties. Witnesses said the workshop, used by a Palestinian family to store construction materials in Maghazi refugee camp, was completely destroyed. The army said Hamas militants had used the foundry to create weapons to be used against Israelis, an allegation denied by its owners. Witnesses said the workshop was hit months ago in a similar airstrike but was then only partially damaged.
Israeli troops also shot dead two Palestinians in Gaza yesterday, including a militant, medics said, following a major army raid into a Gaza refugee camp launched after the suicide bombings.
In Rafah refugee camp, Israeli soldiers killed an unarmed 17-year-old Palestinian near the border of the Jewish settlement of Rafiah Yam, medics said.
Military sources said troops spotted a few Palestinians carrying a large object entering a restricted area near the border. Suspecting they were carrying an explosive device, the soldiers opened fire and hit two of the men, the sources said.
