A 36-year-old man was yesterday charged with the violent indecent assault of a woman in Valletta on Thursday morning.

Christopher Ellul, of Valletta, was also charged with holding the woman against her will, offending public morals and relapsing.

Ellul, who pleaded not guilty to the charges, was granted bail on the condition he does not leave his house. He was bound by a personal guarantee of Lm3,000.

Police Inspectors Josric Mifsud and Ramon Mercieca prosecuted.

Dr Ian Farrugia appeared for Ellul.
