A 3D view of tiny insects

The IMAX Theatre in St Julians will today week be screening a new family 3D film - Bugs 3D.

The film, featuring the latest technology a giant screen can offer, is about the story of the life cycles of a praying mantis and a butterfly. However, more than 40 tropical insects appear, captured in minute detail for the first time in 3D large format. They include tarantulas, scorpions, vipers, jungle nymphs, bats etc.

Bugs! was shot on location in the jungles in Borneo and in the UK.

With the help of the Entomological Society and Heritage Malta, the IMAX Theatre will also be displaying an exhibition portraying a three-dimensional diorama on various local and foreign insects together with detailed photos of local and foreign butterflies.

The Entomological Society is willing to organise talks for groups or schools that request them.
