Foreign Minister Michael Frendo met non-resident Maltese ambassadors as part of the consultation process on the strategic aims of Malta's foreign policy.

A similar meeting had already been held with resident ambassadors while the diplomatic corps had been requested to send their comments online.

Dr Frendo said this exercise was important in view of Malta's EU membership, a reality which should be the basis of a discussion aimed at identifying the strategic aims of Malta's foreign policy.

The minister asked the non-resident ambassadors to submit a one-year plan of action for next year so that the ministry would be in a position to allocate the necessary funds.
