About 800 Palestinian prisoners have suspended their hunger strike after winning concessions from Israeli authorities, a spokesman for the men said yesterday.

"The prisoners in Ashkelon prison are stopping their hunger strike until tomorrow as they have reached a partial agreement with the prison administration there," said Issa Qaraqe of the Palestinian Prisoners' Club in the West Bank. But Israeli Prisons Authority spokesman Ofer Lefler denied any deal had been reached.
