I AM glad Mr Karl Micallef (The Sunday Times, August 22) understood my hypothesis. I wish to clarify, however, that about Mtarfa, I did not mean ships would be attacked, but invaders moving up a slope from a valley below would be attacked.

To Mr Dieter Salto I wish to state that the cart ruts were used in the late Bronze Age, circa 900 BC (as described by Dr David Trump, that a Punic tomb was cut across cart ruts), and not in 1761 A.D.
