I am a former student of De La Salle College, where I was able to complete the first module of the ICT exam.

I would like to let Ms Maria Farrugia (The Sunday Times, August 1) know that the ICT exam is far more difficult than the ECDL. Studying for the ICT exam will help you increase your computer knowledge much more than when studying for the ECDL exams. I can come to this conclusion as I had been able to read all the module books regarding ECDL.

I feel I was really lucky to learn ICT, since the ICT exam is at O-level and the ECDL is just a certificate stating that a student has a basic knowledge in computer skills.

The ECDL is important for those who have a basic knowledge of computer skills, and want to apply for a job such as that of a secretary. But you are not going to teach ECDL in a secondary school. The ECDL and the ICT are totally different exams.

Thus I am grateful to De La Salle College for giving us the opportunity to learn ICT.
