Two brothers were yesterday charged with assaulting and slightly injuring a local warden and the officer responsible for the local wardens in Gozo on Thursday.
Fredrick Aguis, 31, and his brother Frankie, 27, both of Luqa where charged with assaulting and injuring warden Paul Attard and officer Ina Zammit.
The two men, together with Fredrick Agius's wife Caroline, 33, who was present during the assault, were charged with breaching the peace and uttering obscene words in public.
The alleged incident occurred when the two brothers went to the local wardens' office in Victoria to protest against a parking ticket issued against them that same morning.
They insisted with Attard he should withdraw the ticket but he informed them that he was not in a position to do so and should they wish to contest the ticket they had to appear before the local tribunal.
The brothers allegedly attacked Attard and when Zammit intervened they attacked her too.
The accused were granted bail against a personal guarantee of Lm200 each.
Police Inspector Maurice Curmi prosecuted.
Dr Anton Refalo assisted the accused.
