On August 22, while searching for a rare parking slot close to Preluna Towers, I came across a reserved area in front of the Bank of Valletta branch in that locality.
Being a Sunday afternoon, I took a calculated risk by parking there, hoping that the local wardens (who I had no doubt would be doing the rounds) would use a bit of common sense and pass that one up as it is obvious that the bank would not be requiring that slot for the day.
Alas, I was penalised for this. I shall not contest this fine as, after all, I was in the wrong. What I would like to do, however, is appeal to the local councils as well as the banks to put up signs which permit motorists to park in the reserved areas at certain times and particularly on public holidays and Sundays.
No doubt, the banks would illustrate all sorts of scenarios to justify keeping these spaces free - surely we the public deserve a bit more consideration!
