A 28-year-old Senglea man was yesterday charged with the violent indecent assault of a woman and her two children.

The man, whose name cannot be published by court order, was also charged with defiling the two children - a boy and a girl both under the age of 12, with keeping the girl against her will and with the possession of a dagger and a knife without a licence in Zabbar over the past six months.

The man pleaded not guilty to all charges and Magistrate Consuelo Scerri Herrera turned down his request for bail at this stage.

Police Inspector Anthony Cassar prosecuted.

Dr José Herrera and Dr Roberto Montalto appeared for the accused.
