Premier League club Msida St Joseph have lured a new commercial partner to their fold... Volksbank Malta.

The three-year sponsorship agreement between Msida and Volksbank was announced during an activity held at the Hibernians Ground yesterday.

"It is with great pleasure that we announce the signing of a partnership agreement with Volksbank Malta for the next three years," Antoine Portelli, Msida's finance director, said during the presentation of the new club kits for this season.

Mr Portelli said that the restructuring of the club's administrative and technical set-up following the appointment of former Torino chief Roberto Goveani as president, has made it possible to attract a partner such as Volksbank Malta.

Msida SJ vice-president Kevin Deguara thanked Volksbank Malta officials for their support.

"With the start of what promises to be a tough season drawing closer, we are very confident that the objectives we have set for our team will be attained," Dr Deguara said.

Volksbank Malta has been successfully active on the international market since 1995 and has been operating as a commercial bank since 2002, offering full financial services to Maltese and foreign customers.

The bank's ultimate shareholder is Österreichische Volksbanken-AG, Vienna.

"We were impressed with Msida SJ's plans and the energy with which they are embarking on their project to establish their club as a leading football team on the island," Herbert Skok, Volksbank's managing director, said.

"This agreement falls in line with our plans of taking up a major role in the banking sector in Malta. That is why we decided to be associated with Msida SJ."

Also present at the Hibs Ground yesterday were Msida SJ team captain Charles Sciberras, goalkeeper Omar Borg and Volksbank Malta chief business operations Mario F. Psaila, chief financial controller Robert Ancilleri and Netty Farrugia, marketing officer.
