Students in need of hearing aids

Deaf students have been without hearing aids for more than two years, the Deaf People's Association said in a statement yesterday.

Hearing aids should have been provided by the health division but, sadly enough, they had not in the past two years, the association said.

A few devices for people with slight hearing impairments arrived a few months ago, it added, but students with severe deafness were not catered for.

The association said this was a great blow to the students' education, and the lack of hearing aids just added to the problems these students and their families were facing. It appealed to the authorities to do what was needed to solve the problem as soon as possible.
