The HSBC Cares For Children Fund has presented a sponsorship to Special Olympics Malta, which allows children and young people with special needs the opportunity to take sporting disciplines.

The sponsorship will allow the organisation to keep giving young Maltese athletes more opportunities to compete at international events.

"For our athletes, every sports activity is an opportunity to meet and beat another challenge, to win, to personally experience the success of his or her newly found abilities.

These are indeed life-changing experiences.

Thanks to the support from the HSBC Cares For Children Fund, the next year will be another year full of exciting opportunities for Special Olympics Malta", Paul Micallef, chairman of Special Olympics Malta, said.

Footballers from Special Olympics Malta, now in its fourth year, recently represented Malta at football tournaments in Hungary and Turkey, after training with youth teams of prominent local football clubs.

"Special Olympics Malta fulfills a very important task of providing young disabled people with the opportunity to push themselves in the sporting arena. HSBC Cares For Children Fund is delighted to be able to help this organisation to provide young Maltese athletes the opportunity to train and to take part in international events, such as the recent football competitions in Hungary and Turkey,'' said Josef Camilleri, an HSBC Cares For Children Fund committee member.
