We refer to the article Dieting To Slim (July 30) claiming that the diet "Slimming UK is a low fat diet approved by the Public Health Department".

Kindly note that the Public Health Department has issued approvals for the advertising of this diet subject to the following condition: "The words 'approved by the Superintendent of Public Health' or 'approved by the Council of Health' or similar wording are not to be used".
