My heart bleeds for Melita Cable after reading the article (August 14). Chief executive Joe Aquilina laments that cable theft has increased dramatically in recent months, costing the company tens of thousand of liri.
While I agree that this kind of theft must be stopped, I urge Melita Cable to be competitive, provide better service and monitor the world of communications.
For example, a cable company in New York, established only 10 years ago, is offering basic package for only $9 (Lm2.50) per month and a prime package for $30 (Lm9.55) which include a sports channel and 44 channels.
On the question of service, why, may I ask, was I told to disconnect and take the converter and cables myself to the company's offices, with the result that I had a missing cable connection only to go back a second time in unbearable temperatures. Have we now become TV technicians?
Finally, is it really necessary for Melita Cable to charge exorbitant fees to commercial premises when these companies are already burdened with countless other expenses.
