A private investigator yesterday filed a libel suit against Malta Today editor Saviour Balzan and journalist Matthew Vella.

Joseph Zahra said he felt libelled by an article entitled New Investigation Into Former Where's Everybody? Consultant, published on August 15.

Zahra said the article exposed him to ridicule.

Earlier this month, Zahra was charged with filing a police report against people he knew to be innocent and spreading false news that could alarm the public. The case revolved around a report Zahra drew up as a private investigator alleging irregularities in the allocation of the Mater Dei Hospital tender.

He was also charged with working as a private guard without a licence in breach of the Private Guards and Local Wardens Act.

Dr Peter Fenech filed the libel suit.
