Police evacuated a terminal at Britain's Manchester Airport yesterday while bomb experts verified a suspicious bag did not contain explosives.
"Terminal Two was evacuated at 4:35 p.m. (1535 GMT) because a suspicious package was found and the bomb squad were called, but they've now left and things are returning to normal," a spokeswoman for Manchester Airport told Reuters.
The terminal was closed for more than two hours. Manchester police said they sent a bomb squad after taking a call from customs officers in the terminal's baggage hall.
"They had X-rayed a bag which seemed to contain unusual items," a police spokesman said. "As a precaution we asked the bomb squad to have a look to confirm they were not explosives. We evacuated the terminal to be on the safe side."
