The General Workers' Union yesterday complained that the government was discussing the proposed eco-tax with employer bodies but not with the unions.
The union said its position was that it should be consulted on the issue because the tax would increase the burden on workers and pensioners, and decrease their purchasing power.
The GWU called on the government to deal with all the social partners, as it could not tackle the country's problems alone.
