A three-man commission has been set up by the Malta Olympic Committee to investigate Dave Millar's doping case.

Millar, a prominent name in the international cycling sphere, was last week slapped with a two-year ban after he admitted taking endurance booster EPO in 2001 and 2003.

Millar's doping case has also stirred local controversy after the Malta-born British cyclist had won a time-trial gold medal for Malta in the 2001 GSSE.

"The MOC has received two separate reports on the case, one of them prepared by Pippo Psaila who was our chef-de-mission in San Marino.

"It is important to note that during the 2001 Games, Millar was tested for doping and returned a negative result," Mr Justice Lino Farrugia Sacco, MOC president, said.

"The three people on the commission are Magistrate Antonio Mizzi, Dr John Buhagiar and John Schembri. All the material related to this case has been passed to this commission who will then report its findings to the MOC."
